Preconceived notions

I’ve had several conversations recently where I observed that the other party had some preconceived notions that they maintained by interrupting me in mid-sentence just as I was about to challenge those notions. These were not acts of rudeness, mind you; they weren’t even conscious, much less intentional. Just the person’s subconscious mind protecting its world view. Experiencing them in rapid sucession has really given me new appreciation for how good our minds are at controlling and filtering our perceptions so that the world we expect to see is the world we do see.

Do you see the world as it is, REALLY?
