My Fantasy

One of the main reasons I said “Yes!”when they asked me to do a radio show on WSTX Radio- AM970 / FM100.3 was because I’ve always had a pet peeve about hosts who ask the guest a question and then interrupt the guest before they’ve finished their answer and go on for the next 20 minutes talking about themselves. Why have a guest if you aren’t going to let them talk? So I always let my guests on my show do all the talking. Which brings me to my fantasy:

When I think about some of the shows where I have been the guest, being interviewed by someone who, in typical fashion, spends most of the show interrupting me and doing most of the talking, shows where it’s obvious the host has no idea who I am or what I do, and could care less, I sometimes fantasize about how the conversation could have gone:

HOST: “So you teach breathing? Everyone knows how to breathe already don’t they?”
ME: “I teach Rebirthing-Breathwork. It’s a breathing π’•π’†π’„π’‰π’π’Šπ’’π’–π’† that’s healing on all levels, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.”
HOST: “But there’s no proof of that is there?”
ME: “Actually there are tons of scientific papers and clinical studies, and currently all the first rate trauma treatment centers in the US use breathwork because it’s been proven to be so effective.”
HOST: “Oh, so it’s only for people suffering from extreme trauma, not for everybody.”
ME: “No, it’s for everybody. Everybody benefits. I’ve seen it help people with everything from migraine headaches to financial struggles to bad relationships to you name it. Everybody benefits.”
HOST: “Ok, so it’s a good thing, but are you any good? I mean, sometimes people get certified in one of those weekend on-line courses, right?”
ME: “Well, I wasn’t trained in a weekend. I trained more than 5 years with its Discoverer, 3 of them living in his house for full time 24/7 training. And then he had me cross train with other teachers he considered worthwhile. Eventually he made me his Lead Trainer, training Breathworkers from all over the world, and then later Executive Director of his Training Center in New York.”
HOST: Well do you have any recognition, any testimonials?”
ME: “Yes, on my website, https://sacredbreathfreedom.com/ there are testimonials and I’ve been recognized as a “Global Breathwork Leader” by the ICFB, their highest designation.”
HOST: “Ok thanks!”
ME: “My pleasure!”

Somehow, none of this stuff ever comes out when I sit for an interview. Maybe I am too polite, I don’t know.
